Tune in this week to see Vanguard alumna Shay Sorrells on the NBC reality television show The Biggest Loser.
Sorrells graduated from VU in 2002 with a degree in Psychology. She was chosen for The Biggest Loser back in May. When she arrived at The Biggest Loser ranch and stepped on the scale, Shay weighed 476, making her the heaviest contestant ever on the show.
In an interview with the LA Daily News, Shay said “Weight has been an issue for me since day one. I was born weighing 10 pounds. There’s never been a time in my life I’ve been considered thin, skinny, average.” She continued, “The day you choose to take your life back and understand that you’re worth it, that’s when the journey begins.” And according to Sorrells, weight loss is a matter of taking it day to day, hour to hour.
